Abstract
A round robin series of tests was run to estimate the precision of ASTM C518, when used to measure the K-factor of rigid urethane modified polyisocyanurate foam board stock. Data on different board thicknesses was gathered to represent the entire product range. Thus, information will be presented on the precision of ASTM C518 as a function of sample thickness, as well as the between lab and within lab variability. The levels of uncertainty which were measured have a high degree of validity, owing to the large number of labs (16) participating in the round robin. Also, the levels of uncertainty are much higher than the 2% that most people in the polyurethane industry expect form the C518 results.
