Abstract
The substitution of CFCs by other blowing agents has created severe problems in maintaining satisfactory thermal conductivity on aging. A considerable amount of effort has been directed in the past in obtaining an adequate initial, as well as aged k factor, by focusing on modification of the foam components to obtain smaller cell size, narror distribution of cell size and reduction of the opacity of the foam cells. PPG Industries has developed additive systems consisting of a combination of selected silicas and surfactantws with increaed nucleating efficiencies.
