Abstract
This paper is a short presentation of the methodology developed in France regarding the certification for Building Trade Insulation Manufactured Products, but it mainly deals with the case of rigid polyurethane foam. It includes the definition of the certified characteristics and of the test methods permitting the determination thereof, as well as the general conditions to be fulfilled regarding manufacturing internal control and the repeatability of self control verification by an independent agency. This qualificatdion of insulating materials is related to a specific French law voted in 1978 and concerning the protection and the information of consumers. Then a specific Commission was created (ACERM) Assn for the Certifictaion of Insulating Materils, agreed by the French government in 1984. It is composed of CSTB, LNE and AFNOR.
