Abstract
The authors started inspecting aged polyurethane foam roofing in 1982 to determine performance criteria for PUF roof applications. In 1988 presentation at the SPI annual conference, theories of performance criteria for PUF roof system components based on the performance of 10-18 year old aged roofs were given. Economic analysis, and a theoretical failure mechanism for PUF roof systems were also introduced. The authors conclude that the data shows PUF roof systems is a proven economical roofing system, whose performance can be enhanced by the understanding of potential failure mechanisms. With the presented information, manufacturers and installers can more effeciently perform research and improve the performance of the PUF roof system.
