FEMA/BOCA cooperative projects promote hazard mitigations

Abstract
Much of the housing stock in the United States is located in disaster-prone areas. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), BOCA and the other model code organizations and the insurance industry are undertaking serior efforts to educate the public as a step toward the goal of achieving hazard mitigation. This article summarizes these efforts.
