Abstract
What began as a look at buckling shingles over board decks reached a conclusion that has been head before: functional attic ventilation is essential in getting maximum life from the roofing products used. Minor distortions of the finished roof are inevitable result inherent in the sheathing materials used and the climates in which we live. They are not a result of poor materials or workmanship. Larger, problem causing buckles and splits are from poor choice and conditions of sheathing material and/or excessive humidity cylcing in the attic space.
