Air conditioner condensate the silent destroyer

Abstract
While standing water on a roof is not a good thing, air conditioning cndensate is much worse. It contains many potentially damaging chemicals that come from additives to control microbiological growth in the collection pans, coil cleaners and from pollutants in the air. The damage potential from air conditioner condensate is enormous, thus prudent owners and specifiers need to include some means to keep the air conditioner condensate off their roofs, either with piping systems or the new low profile channel systems, as part of initial or subsequent roof design.
