Abstract
Specially synthesized copolymers from ethylene, propylene, and butene called amorphous polyalphaolefins (APAO) are widely used as high performance bitumen modifiers. Such modified bitumens have superior characteristics with respect to ease of application, ageing resistance, stability at elevated temperatures and low temperature flexibility. Some special types of APAO are presented. formulations for APAO-based bitumen modifications are given and characteristics and advantages of these systems are described.
