Abstract
Between 1990 and 1992 BRE received an unusual number of reports of cladding deterioration in buildings clad and roofed with organically coated galvanized steel profled sheet. Deterioration was noted four to five years after installation, whereas manufacturers claim "lives to first maintenance" of 15-25 years, depending on environment and type and color of coating. This report describes the finding of the survey on this subject and the implications for future research.
