Abstract
For many years subjects such as shear walls, diaphgram, base shear & overturning moment were limited to the professional arena of engineers & architects. A more widespread understanding of the complex nature of wind load/building interactions, coupled with an increased sophistication of building officials and builders, is making an understanding of these once esoteric subjects a necessary part of the building community's "tool box" of knowledge. This publication presents a basic understanding of how the structural frame of a building reacts to the imposed wind load and how the components of that structure interact with one another to ressist these loads. This booklet illustrates this load path and emphpsizes the importance of each element. This is not a design example, just concept.
