Abstract
This chapter will introduce you to the various roofing cements, roof coatings and their usage. Roof coatings are cements, sealers, paints and mastics. Most coatings areused to seal joints, to provide waterproofing, sand to provide color to a roof. Some are used to cement roofing plies together, others to coat a roof in one or two quick applications. Some are used to reflect the sun's heat and UV radiation, keeping the buiding's interior cooler. Others are used to repair leaks or fill cracks and holes. Some coatings will fireproof a roof, some will lower the fire rating of a roof.
