Cold climate roofing: Some Swedish winter experiences

To obtain a copy of a specific publication, users should contact the publication's publisher directly.

Abstract
The paper surveys some experiences from northern Sweden with its cold winters now and then interrupted by mild (zero) weathers. Roofing is a question of handling some loads and the interaction between snow melting and re-freezing, imposing special care for draining and bearing strength, particularly on pitched roofs. Winter 1987-88 brought heavy snow to the coast area, causing some collapses followed by discussion about snow shoveling costs versus higher standard snow loads.
