To obtain a copy of a specific publication, users should contact the publication's publisher directly.

Abstract
This chapter discusses roofing felt, flashings, and vents and how they work. Included are the installation methods for most types of flashing you will encounter. The chapter is essential reading as it is referenced throughout this manual. Flashing prevents water entry into a buiding at all junctins of the roofing to a wall, skylight, chimney, parapet, dormer, vent, or other roof penetration. Without flashing, most roofs, would leak like a sieve. The venting portion of this chapter describes the types of vents available and their usage. Included in the chapter is a small section on rain gutters and their installation.
