Abstract
The Roof Coatings Manufacturing Association has sponsored a study which includes test decks of built-up and modified bitumen membranes, as well as EPDM. Each roofing system is coated with aluminum-pigmented, asphalt-based (solvent and water), acrylic and styrene acrylic water-based elastomeric, SEBS solvent-based, and black asphalt emulsion coatings. The decks are exposed at three location including Florida, Ohio, and Arizona. Reflectance of the coatings and properties of the membranes on each of the test decks will be determined periodically during the study. Accelerated weathering data will also be generated to determine if there is a correlation with natural weathering.
