Abstract
One difficult item on any job is not the work itself, but the pricing of that work so that you can pay your bills and still make a profit. This is termed estimating and is a leading cause of business failure in the construction industry. You must understand your cost of doing business. You must understand that you are the expert, people call on you because they fell you will do the job correctly. For this expertrise you charge, for your overhead, your materials, your labor, your employees, your taxes, etc. This chapter deals with the estimating process as a whole.
