Abstract
In the near future, in the Netherlands, environmental information will be an important factor to consider alongside costs and technology. After a turbulent start, the Netherlands is shifting from subjective environmental prefernce lists to objective environmentally relevant product information. This is a long and complicated process, as environmental standard figures must be collected from production back to raw materials, transport, processing, use, maintenance, demolition and recycling if appropriate. The Dutch bituminous roofing industry / suppliers have taken up the gauntlet and have progressed well in this process.
