Abstract
The Metal Building Manufacturers Assn concluded a four year study on the effect of the sun's radiation on the expansion and contraction of metal roofs. The objective was to develop design information that can be used to make metal roofs more maintenance free. If not designed and installed properly, a roof may develop problems due to thermal expansion and contraction. At the core of the experiments was a phenomenon called re-rediation. This article features the results of this experiment.
