Abstract
This paper relates to the development of a bitumen polymer sheet roofing material which is applied by the traditional methods applicable to built up roofing. The philosophy behind the development of the material is given in some detail. The new product is designed to overcome the limitations of the traditional material by giving much improved performance characteristics in relation to strength, elasticity and durability and by adopting the traditional method of application, full advantage is taken of a well-established and well-proven system. A summary of the development laboratory program is included together with details regarding the essential characteristics of the material. Information is also provided regarding the method of application together with some typical examples of specification. An additional section is provided which gives details of a system for waterproofing flush expansion joints suitable for use on podia, roof car parks and bridge decks.
