Abstract
Cold, fluid-applied waterproofing systems were developed in Europe and have been around for many years. they can be used by a roof consultant in conjunctin with asphalt roofs to flash difficult penetrations - particularly on re-roofing projects, and provide the designer with a warrantable alternative to pitch pockets. Cold, fluid-applied membranes have the ability to adhere to asphalt-based roofs and, with proper surface preparation, to metal, concrete, and masonry. they can conform to the profile of irregular penetrations and also be used where there is a need to provide the qualities of a waterproofing membrane.
