Abstract
This report is based on ground surveys conducted in S. Florida by the Southern Building Code Congress International. The survey area is bounded on the north by the sourthern part of the city of Miami and on the south by Florida City. The survey extended from the east coast to SW 117th Ave on the west. In the areas of Florida City and Homestead, parts of the survey extended west of SW 117th Ave. The survey contains: codes in effect at the time; wind speed; cladding and other matters concerning protection of the building envelope; structural framing and systems: single and multi-family dwellings; roof sheathing; strapping; overall structural integrity; mobile homes; preengineered buidings; engineered buidings and structures. After reviewing the results of the surveys, recommendations were then made.
