Algae "dirt" comes to light in contest

Abstract
Finding the nations "dirtiest roof" was easy for a roof consultant holding a masters degree in biology - the dirt is actually algae. 3M' nationwide contest sought the most severe "roof algae" in the country to promote awareness of the problems and what can be done to deter its onset.
