Abstract
The functioning complexity of flat roof systems complicates the problem of planning and realizing a high degree of reliability. It is as complex to make correct and exhaustive diagnosis when facing pathological phenomena. The paper develops a hypothesis of a sequential analysis that, starting from target performance, individualizes on the crucial phases of the building process where an aggregation of quality takes place. In every one of those crucial phases, it is possible to recognize pathogenic facts that can reduce the duration of the roof. The processual classification of possible pathogenetics factors can be a sort of checklist for design or diagnostic analysis and help to enhance the reliability of flat roof systems.
