Abstract
Warranty coverage and elements vary greatly from roofing manufacturer to manufacturer. Many manufacturers use warranties as sales tools - they flash a seemingly comprehensive long-term warranty in front of prospective customers in order to encourage them to purchase the roofing system. While this may be an effective way of increasing sales in the short term, it is not always a benefit to the customer. More important than the length of the warranty is how the warranty is written, the financial strength of the company backing the warranty and additional charges to the building owner for the extended warranty.
