Abstract
The Army maintains approximately 170,000 buildings at installations located all over the world. The roofing inventory that protects these buildings comprises a variety of materials and systems. The funds spent annually by the Army to repair and replace roofs make up 13% of its overall buiding maintenance and repair budget. This paper discusses currenty Army business practices for roof management, investigages technology needs and recommends solutions for bridging existing gaps through proposed process changes and research efforts.
