Abstract
The paper describes a new type of asphalt-modified roofing and waterproofing membrane based on an advanced polyalphaolefin polyer. This new membrane provides universal application and can be applied by hot asphalt, torch or heat welding, mechanical fasteners and cold adhesives. The polyalphaolefin membrane shows significant improvement in weathering and heat aging resistance, cold flexibility. Laboratory data on heat aging resistance, and cold flex, peel tests performed by different techniques on various substrates are reported. The paper also presents the first field application that supports laboratory experimental data.
