Abstract
The purpose of this book is to bring together in one place much of the information required by designers and roofers to design and build good roofs, while at the same time informing owners what they can expect from roofs and what they must do to maintain them in good condition to achieve a long service life. It is hoped that it will also be useful to schools of architecture and institutes of technology in teaching the fundamentals of building science as related to roof design. It is not entirely comprehensive but does highlight most of the considerations that are involved in choosing, building, and maintaining roof systems.
