Abstract
The International Federation for the Roofing Trade publishes recommendations for the design and application of roofs. The IFD Guidelines for the design and application of roof waterproofing, also known at IFD-Flat Roof Guidelines, which is based on the German Flat Roof Guidelines is one of these application rules. The IFD Guidelines are applicable to the design and application of: continuously waterproofed flat and pitch roofs surfaces; trafficked and non-trafficked surfaces with all the componenets for the proper functioning of the roof. It also includes requirments on insulated flat roofs with roof gardens. On roof surfaces which are designed to be greened or planted, a high quality waterproofing is essential due to the mechanical stresses. The presentation will give information about the requirements in the IFD guideline.
