Abstract
A method is presented for estimating the wind speeds required to cause scour or blow off of rooftop gravel for various building configurations. It is based mainly on results from wind tunnel tests which were conducted specifically to obtain the required data. Using information available in the literature, a mthod has been formulated for estimating the maximum probable wind speed that can be expected at any particular building site and rooftop level. The basis of the methods and their limitations are discussed in an appendix.
