Abstract
The increasingly heavy use of technology in support of other industries than only the Chemical Process Industries brings significant analytical capabilities to a manufacturer in even a small or medium sized city. Digital technology has made what were once academic research tools accessible to industrial chemists and technicians. Generally, the technologies are being linked to standardized databases making the use and analysis of that data simpler still. Many problems encountered in the field can be identified quantitatively and often with some sort of graphical or photographic evidence that the stakeholder will understand. The number of tools to master is small and manageable so that most manufacturers can have these capabilities in house.
