Abstract
A case study was performed on the use of a modified urethane foam insulation in modular home construction. The technical work was completed by a research center as part of the DOE sponsored Advanced Housing Technologyh Program. The case study consisted of two tasks. The first assessed modified urethan foam's insulating and air sealing proerties against those of the standard practice materials (fiberglass insualation) in the modular home industry. It found the modified urethane to be cost competitive with current practice for installations of comparable performance. The second task was to determine if the modified urethan foam could be assimilated into a modular home manufacturing process as well as to verify the thermal and air sealing performance of the product.
