Abstract
This paper is part of an ongoing study into the current issues pertaining to the use of naturla stone slate in the roofing industry. This study focuses principally on domestically manufactured slate for steep slope roof assemblies. This paper will specifically address these topics: 1) proven long term performance of slate; 2) slate roof system modes of failure; 3) slate analysis - past, present and future issues.
