Abstract
Various square and rectangular building configurations were tested in a 30 x 30 ft. wind tunnel to measure the wind speeds at which roofing gravel begins to be scoured and blown off the rooftop. The model building and gravel length scales were one-tenth the prototype values. The atmospehric boundary layer was simulated in the tests. Wind direction, building height, parapet height, gravel size and length: width ration of the buildings were varied.
