Abstract
The paper describes the nature and manufacture of liquid coatings for roof waterproofing purposes including both bituminous and non-bituminous materials. Ancillary materials for use with liquid coatings are also described. The purpose of a roof surface and the likely causes of the conditions of a roof surface demanding maintenance are discussed and the complex nature of the roof waterproofing maintenance problem is described in general terms emphasizing the value of liquid coatings for this purpose. Some obervations on the use of liquid coatings under all climatic conditions are included.
