Abstract
In recent years, there has been the requirement for seamless membranes to be executed "in situ" based on products supplied in liquid or paste form, for use in repairing no-longer-waterproof surfaces, such as tiled terraces or old waterproofing works. The continuous "in situ" membranes find a specific field of use also for the waterproofing of structures having a geometrically difficult and irregular surface, where it would be impossible to operate with prefabricated membrane sheets. The mistake one usually makes when evaluating these kind of membranes is to consider them as little more than a paint coating to which they are assimilated for the tests and the controls. The paper illustrates in detail the use of such membranes and the methods to be followed in order to evaluate their compatibility with other products and materials, as well as their waterproofing behavior when new and after weathering.
