Abstract
While much of the information in the Fundamentals Handbook does not change, research supported by ASHRAE and other organizations continues to generate new information for many chapters. In this 1993 volume, several changes and additions are worth noting. One of the important additions is the new Chapter 37 on enviromental health, which introduces the field of environmental health as it pertains to buildings. Chapter 8 on physiological principles and thermal comfort has been revised to complement this new chapter. For example, Chapter 8 includes a revised comfort chart that accounts for the effect of high humidity on comfort. Chapter 27 on fenestration contains new data for a variety of fenestration products, including quadruple glazing, operable and fixed units, double doors, and sloped skylights.
