Abstract
TPO, PVC, and KEE-based single-ply roofing membranes are classified as thermoplastic roofing membranes. The primary difference between these materials and thermoset membranes is their polymer chemistry. Thermoplastic polymer chains can be reactivated with heat, allowing adjacent sheets to fuse together during the welding process. When performed correctly, these welds create a bond that can only be separated by tearing the sheet.
