Abstract
This standard has been written following the guidelines in Appendix A of this standard, "Principles of Effective Energy Conserving Building Design. '' It has been estimated that as much as 40 percent of the energy used to heat, cool, and illuminate buildings and to provide hot water and other building services would be saved through the effective application of existing technology without reducing building performance or occupant comfort. One of the keys to achieving these savings is standardization and codes for building design.
