Abstract
The aging behavior of 14 different polymer roofing membranes has been investigated in a collaborative test programme involving four labs. The samples were subjected to different kinds of ultraivolet radiation from flourescent lamps. Other varying parameters were temperature and arrangements with or without ponding water. A test method wsa established which is capable of distinguising reliably between roofing membranes designed for exposure to solar radiation and membranes not qualified for outdoor applicatoin. The method was proposed to the Swiss Standard SIA 280 committee to be used as standard test method and later adopted by this body.
