Abstract
This chapter is about tile roofing and roofs. Tile roofs have been in existence for hundreds of years. Tile is durable and has a beauty and richness of its own. Tile roofs are considered by many as the ultimate in roofing. This may or may not be correct. Tile roofs are durable, will withstand severe weather and high winds. This chapter also will cover fire ratings, color of tile, materials used to manufacture tiles, tile damage, tools required, sheathing for tile roof, slope, felt underlayment, batten strips, rake treatment using metal tile shingles, riser strips, leak source, bird stop, weight distribution on roof, breakand and a way off the roof, flashing used for tile installation, roof preparation, eave tile installation.
