Abstract
This final version of the Quality in the Constructed Project (ASCE Manual No. 73) provides suggestions and recommendations to owners, design professionals, constructors and others on prin­ciples and procedures which have been effective in providing quality in the constructed project. It also provides guidance for establishing roles, responsibilities, relationships and limits of authority for project participants; and stresses the importance of concepts and practices that enhance the quality in the con­structed project. Throughout the manual, various themes con­sidered to be of particular importance are discussed. They include such concepts as: 1) the definition and assignment of responsibility; 2) the importance of teamwork; 3) the impor­tance of concise contractual provisions; 4) the principles of good communication; 5) the owner's selection process for project team members; and 6) the procedures for design and construction.
