Abstract
Renowned architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe coined the phrase “less is more” to describe his building design philosophy. Although the phrase is subject to interpretation, it generally is understood as an expression of van der Rohe’s minimalist theory and is believed to mean having essential things is better than having too many superfluous things. With the material and product shortages the U.S. roofing industry is experiencing, this concept warrants further consideration.
