Each FEI participant must identify a mentor as part of the application process. Ideally, the mentor is a company leader who supervises the applicant or closely supports the applicant’s professional development.
During the application process, the mentor must submit a recommendation letter explaining why this is the right time for the applicant to commit to FEI and confirming support for the applicant’s class attendance, coursework and professional growth. Applicants who do not have a colleague available to serve as a mentor must identify someone outside their organization who can fulfill the role.
After acceptance and during participation in the program, participants interview their mentors each semester about topics covered in class and rely on them as a resource during their FEI experience. Because mentorship and peer networking are central to FEI, establishing a mentor relationship is required for admission.
