CERTA Train-the-trainer

Train-the-trainer Authorization

Since the implementation of NRCA’s CERTA program, the roofing industry has seen a significant decrease in serious roofing torch-related fire incidents.

The CERTA program provides the latest best practices and new industry requirements for the safe use of roofing torches. CERTA training is designed to address the concerns of building owners, roofing contractors, the insurance industry, fire and code authorities, roofing material manufacturers, and equipment manufacturers and fuel suppliers.

Note: Class size is limited; prior registration is required. Tuition fee includes all course materials, lunch and beverage service.

Train-the-trainer Reauthorization

Register for any CERTA trainer authorization course, during which you will demonstrate your skills using a roofing torch, revisit training skills and discuss CERTA applicator requirements. Your training will end mid-afternoon.

There is also an online reauthorization option.

NRCA will provide an email notice to all authorized CERTA trainers before their eligibility expires.

Program prerequisite: Participants must have passed the original 10-hour CERTA authorization course and conducted some type of formalized training within 12 months before the expiration of their authorized status.

See reauthorization renewal policies, procedures and training resources.
