Abstract
Nearly every year for the past 20 years, WSRCA’s Technical & Research Section is conducting testing and/or research on one or more categories of roofing or waterproofing materials on behalf of WSRCA Members. The findings of WSRCA’s committee-guided and sponsored testing and research are typically used to produce informative Technical Bulletins and Convention Programs for WSRCA Members to proactively gain insight and knowledge into current trends or current generation(s) of material production integrity, the materials physical properties, and general quality information. Over the past couple of years, WSRCA’s Industry Issues Committee worked with WSRCA’s Low-slope Committee and WSRCA’s Technical Research Section to conduct testing of fourteen (14) different SBS (Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene) Polymer-Modified Asphalt Roofing Materials randomly selected from seven (7) different major manufacturers to assess if baseline ASTM standard minimum criteria are being met. These testing activities can provide critical information for WSRCA Members that endeavor to provide quality-oriented multi-ply roof membrane systems for their customers from the base smooth-surfaced roll good materials to the cap sheet or final ply of a multi-ply membrane roofing system.
