Hiring processes have become more complex, and a longer recruitment period—especially for entry-level positions—can discourage potential candidates.
Inc. offers the following tips to help you improve your hiring process.
- Be realistic about job requirements. Although some skills can be considered a bonus, it is important you focus on what is necessary to do the job.
- Streamline the process. Stick to a handful of structured, behavioral interviews with key people at your company.
- Keep sample tasks short. If candidates can complete questionnaires quickly, you will be able to evaluate individuals more quickly.
- Make job postings specific. Be sure the job description is clear and interesting. Avoid a vague description that has no salary range.
- Avoid ghosting. You always should provide feedback to candidates; ghosted candidates may post negative reviews online.
- Follow up. When candidates withdraw from the interview process, reach out and get their feedback so you can continue to improve your hiring process.
