NRCA members participate in roundtable with Rep. Van Duyne in Texas
On Oct. 15, NRCA member companies Brettco Roofing LLC, IB Roof Systems, King of Texas Roofing, KPost Company and National Roofing Partners participated in a Congressional tax event hosted by Congresswoman Beth Van Duyne (R-Texas) in Grand Prairie, Texas. Members provided testimony to the panel regarding the value of the 199A qualified business income deduction for pass-through businesses. This deduction is set to expire at the end of 2025 without congressional action. Van Duyne heard from a wide range of industry representatives who emphasized what this deduction means for their businesses and how it has helped them invest in their communities. This was one of many in a roundtable series led by the Main Street Employers Coalition to raise awareness regarding the importance of this tax deduction, and NRCA is again happy to have the opportunity to participate.
Disaster relief assistance for hurricanes
As recovery efforts continue in the southeastern states severely damaged by Hurricanes Helene and Milton, individuals and businesses are reminded the Federal Emergency Management Agency has information related to disaster relief for Milton and Helene. Also, the U.S. Small Business Administration provides qualifying businesses with access to low-interest loans and other resources. Additionally, the IRS has announced assistance for taxpayers affected by the recent hurricanes. The agency’s notice IR-2024-266 applies to taxpayers affected by both storms, whereas notice IR-2024-265 and notice IR-2024-264 apply specifically to those affected by Hurricane Milton. NRCA will continue to monitor federal disaster-related developments and provide more information as it becomes available.
