On Nov. 24, the Small Business Administration was ordered to release detailed information about Paycheck Protection Program and Economic Injury Disaster Loan Program borrowers and loan details by Dec. 1.
The organizations that sued the SBA for this information stated in federal court their request was to ensure the public has access to information about how the taxpayer funds are spent and to enforce federal freedom-of-information law.
Initially, the SBA was granted a temporary stay until Dec. 7, and the plaintiffs had until Nov. 27 to provide a response to the SBA’s request for a full reversal citing privacy concerns. View details of the suit filed Nov. 5.
Previously, the SBA provided only the names and addresses for PPP loans that exceed $150,000 along with loan values in five ranges up to $10 million. The agency also released amounts of PPP loans under $150,000 but did not provide borrower names.
