NRCA named former NRCA President Robert McNamara, president of F.J.A. Christiansen Roofing Co. Inc., a Tecta America company, Milwaukee, recipient of its 71st annual J.A. Piper Award at the association's 131st Annual Convention held Feb. 4-8 in New Orleans. Presented each year at NRCA's annual convention, the J.A. Piper Award, the roofing industry's most prestigious honor, recognizes roofing professionals who have devoted constant, outstanding service to the association and roofing industry.
In addition to serving as NRCA president from 2009-10, McNamara served as chairman of NRCA's Long-term Investment Committee from 2016-17; NRCA senior vice president from 2009-10; vice president from 2006-08; and director from 1996-99, 2002-06 and 2009-10. He also has served on many committees, including serving as chairman of the Awards, Budget and Finance and Contractor Management Committees, and president of the Industry Advisory Board and National Roofing Legal Resource Center.
F.J.A. Christiansen Roofing also is a member of The Roofing Industry Alliance for Progress.
"I'm truly honored to be part of this wonderful group," McNamara said when accepting the award. "There are so many good people to look up to as you get involved in the industry. It's a great opportunity to work together with friends, the relationships you develop and great friendships you develop across the industry."
First presented in 1948, the J.A. Piper Award is named for former NRCA President Joseph A. Piper, whose extraordinary efforts kept the association alive during the Great Depression.
