NRCA will offer free webinars during week of safety stand-down

NRCA will hold free webinars in support of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's sixth annual National Safety Stand-Down May 6-10 to prevent falls in construction.

The safety stand-down is meant to raise awareness among employers and workers about the hazards of falls. Fatalities caused by falls from elevation continue to be a leading cause of death for construction workers, accounting for 366 of the 971 construction fatalities recorded in 2017, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

OSHA, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health and the Center for Construction Research and Training are leading the effort to encourage employers to pause during their workdays for topic discussions, demonstrations and training regarding how to recognize hazards and prevent falls.

NRCA's OSHA National Safety Stand-Down Week Webinar Series will include Fall Protection: Ladders, Guardrails and Warning Lines May 7; Fall Protection: Personal Fall-arrest Systems (PFAS) May 8; and Fall Protection: Rescue Techniques and Suspension Trauma May 9. All webinars will be from noon to 12:30 p.m. CST.
