NRCA member helps veteran receive a free roof

NRCA member My Roofing Crew, Greenbrier, Tenn., recently helped install a new $12,000 roof on the home of U.S. Navy veteran Willie Brown III for free, according to www.tennessean.com.

Brown’s roof was installed by My Roofing Crew in partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Sumner County and the Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project, a nationwide effort that gives back to U.S. military veterans. Since its inception in 2016, the Owens Corning program has provided new roofs for more than 250 military members.

Heavy rains and unexpected snowfall in the spring froze pooling water underneath the shingles on Brown’s roof, causing potential structural integrity issues and leaks. Brown applied to the program for assistance and was approved and scheduled to receive his new roof in April.

“When they came out here, I couldn’t hardly hold back my tears,” Brown said. “They came to my rescue. And the roof is holding up fantastic. I couldn’t have asked for any better.”

The work was completed by My Roofing Crew with roofing materials provided by the Owens Corning Foundation and Habitat for Humanity of Sumner County. Additionally, My Roofing Crew will be following up with Brown to make further repairs to his home during the coming weeks.

“We feel so incredibly blessed to have been a part of (the Brown project),” said Liz Garza, director of marketing for My Roofing Crew. “It was a magical day; it was just so amazing.”

This was the first time My Roofing Crew, an Owens Corning Platinum Roofing Contractor, had partnered with Habitat for Humanity and the Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project.
